The WOCN® Society offers two types of educational scholarships: Accredited and Advanced. Please read carefully to determine which scholarship is right for you, to learn more about submission requirements and to begin an application.

 

WOCN Society Accredited Educational Scholarship

The WOCN Scholarship Committee is proud to offer scholarship awards for those nurses wishing to attend one of our Accredited Educational Programs.

Scholarship applicants must be accepted into a WOC Nursing Education Program (WOCNEP) Accredited by the WOCN Society. Scholarship applications are accepted twice yearly and must reach the WOCN Society National Office by the deadline dates of May 1 or November 1. Applications may be submitted before the program begins, during the program or by the first application deadline immediately following graduation from the program.

Requirements:

  1. Seeking education in wound, ostomy and continence nursing care.
  2. Proof of one of the following:
    • Acceptance in a WOCNEP accredited by the WOCN Society or Specialty Course (If you are accepted but have not yet begun the program at time of submission)
    • Current enrollment in a WOCNEP accredited by the Society or Specialty Course (If you are accepted and have already started your program at time of submission)
    • Certificate of completion from a WOCNEP accredited by the Society or Specialty Course within three months of graduation (If you have ended your program within the last 3 months at time of submission)
  3. Complete application.
  4. Three satisfactory letters of recommendation from professional associates who have known the applicant for at least one year (one from current employer, preferred).
  5. Has not received an educational scholarship award from the WOCN Society Foundation in the last three years.

WOCN Society Advanced Educational Scholarship

The WOCN Scholarship Committee is committed to furthering the role of professionalism within WOC nursing by assisting individuals to obtain a higher degree and helping in personal and academic achievement. Sponsors of the WOCN Society Advanced Education Program have generously contributed funds through the WOCN Foundation to provide a scholarship award program which offers financial aid to offset the costs of a Master’s or Doctoral Degree or NP Certificate.

Scholarship applicants must hold a current certification from the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB®) to apply. Scholarship applications are accepted twice yearly and must reach the WOCN Society National Office by the deadline dates of May 1 or November 1.

Requirements:

  1. Seeking a Master’s or Doctoral Degree or Nurse Practitioner Certificate.
  2. Proof of a current, unrestricted RN license.
  3. Active member of the WOCN Society.
  4. Proof of certification by the WOCNCB in one or more areas of WOC nursing.
  5. Proof of current or previous employment as a wound, ostomy and/or continence nurse for three years during the last five years.
  6. Proof of current enrollment, acceptance, or completion/graduation (within three months of completion/graduation) from an NLN accredited nursing program/course, or other accredited college and/or university program/course for non-nursing degrees.
  7. Complete application.
  8. Three satisfactory letters of recommendation from professional associates who have known the applicant for at least one year (one from current employer, preferred).
  9. Has not received an educational scholarship award from the WOCN Society Foundation in the last three years.
